    Choose which units to show

Use the unit names at the top to show or hide each card. Drag a name or a card’s title to rearrange them; your order is remembered in this browser, and Restore puts the original order back. The names of the extra units are there too: tick any of them, or turn on “All Currencies” to show them all.

  3. 02

Drag a slider or type a value

Move any slider, or type an amount into its “Type Value” box, and every visible currency updates instantly. The rates are the latest daily reference rates; the line above the cards shows their date. The sliders are logarithmic, so each step along a slider multiplies the value, and one slider covers very small to very large amounts.

  4. 03

    Pick just your currencies

Press “Hide All”, type a country, currency name or code in the search box, and tick the names you want. Your picks are remembered in this browser, and “Show All” brings every currency back.

  5. 04

    Lakhs, crores and similar

Where a country counts in its own units, the card also writes the amount that way underneath: lakh and crore for the Indian rupee (and the Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepalese and Sri Lankan rupee or taka), 万 and 億 for the yen and yuan, and 만 and 억 for the won. Only one unit is shown, the largest that fits, starting from one lakh or ten thousand.

  6. 05

    Where the rates come from

The rates are the latest daily reference rates. They come from ExchangeRate-API, which covers about 160 currencies, with the European Central Bank (through the free Frankfurter service) as a backup that covers about 30. Together they cover the currency of nearly every country, because many countries share one currency. The rates update once a day, so if a day has no new rates you see the last day that did. The line above the cards shows the source and the date. Real bank and card rates add fees and differ a little.

  7. 06

    Widen the range

Turn on “More Range” to widen every slider’s range to cover more extreme values.

What is Currency Exchange?

An exchange rate says how much of one currency you get for another. Rates change every day with trade, interest rates and markets. This converter shows an amount in many currencies using the latest daily reference rates, so you can compare prices, plan travel or check an invoice. Real bank and card rates add fees and differ slightly.
